Makin' moola!

May 21st, 2011 at 09:10 pm

I listed 6 items this week on e-bay and they all sold! My net profit after ebay/paypal fees is $104.62. The best part...I received these items for free. Not too shabby Wink I will deposit the money next month into my Roth IRA.

YAY!

Congrats on your ebay sales, and with so little effort!

I am also wanting to get started on a Roth IRA. What company do you use? Do they have a minimum deposit? Do they charge fees?

Crazyliblady......Roth's are not one size fits all. It's important to do your homework. It depends on your age, risk tolerance and the number of years you expect to (hopefully) retire. I use mutual funds but there are also CD Roth IRA's. I like Vanguard and Fidelity, however there are many companies who offer Roth IRA's. There is usually a minimum investment (eg.1K or so). One important factor is expense ratio of the fund. I try to keep it at 1% or below.

I have spend many years researching the best fit for me. It will be worth while for you to do the same.

    Good luck!

I love that you are selling things that you got for free on eBay, and it leads to a profit! I used to do that with cool things I would find at the second hand store that were not my size/style, but that I knew would strike someone's fancy on eBay. One of my favorites was a pair of Camper brand shoes that I got for just a couple of dollars and sold for like $60, and a new North Face jacket that I paid $49 for, but sold for over $200. As long as you have some insurance that you know what will sell, it can really add some income! Nice going...
