Stupidity killed my budget

June 5th, 2011 at 10:38 pm

I received a speeding ticket a few weeks ago. I passed another vehicle that was moving at a snails pace. I was on my way to work thinking I would be late if I stayed behind this person. My employer is very firm about punctuality. It's ridiculous. One person is late and everyone is verbally scolded for it.

I am guilty and should have known better. I have no idea how much it's going to cost but I hear the fine along with traffic school could cost over $300!

I had jury duty for three days last week. My employer does not pay so I used two vacation days and one day will be unpaid (boo). I firmly believe if we are expected to do our civil duty, we should receive full compensation.

At least my week ended on a positive note...I had dinner with friends and the food/company/conversation was fabulous.

I got a speeding ticket recently. It made me feel so stupid for speeding. My budget sure would have been better off without having to pay for my stupidity.

That's happened to me, as I'm trying to get to work. The last time i was stopped was last year, but luckily he let me go with a warning. It should say right on the ticket how much the fine is, no?

That being said, there were 2 recent instances when a maniac woman driver was tailgating me and acting crazy impatient. The second time, I was on a secondary 2 lane highway with no passing. She was behind me stopped at a light, and when it turned green, i didn't immediately zoom ahead because there was a bicyclist who was starting to pedal from a stopped position. She actually beeped the horn at me, and after i passed the bicyclist, she kept blowing the horn at me becus i wasn't going fast enough to suit her. I was on my way to the local landfill, which was a left-hand turn. Luckily, as I approached that turn, I did NOT turn, call it intuition, becus that's when she passed me (no passing solid line) on the left. She would have caused an accident.

Patient saver......the amount is not posted on the ticket. I wish it were. I checked on line and it takes up to 26 days for it to be posted and to find out if you are eligible for traffic school.

According to my co-worker's it happens at month end on that street. Police officers are out with the radar gun tagging passing cars. I get it. I sped up too fast and passed the car but I wasn't zooming down the street like most people I see speeding. I only sped long enough to pass the car.
Apparently, it doesn't matter. The state of California is hurting for money and they need to make it any way possible.
