In Shock....

March 1st, 2014 at 03:45 am

My company is in the process of a major reorganization and we were hit today with a major restructure. I have to reapply for my job. The one I have held for 15 years. If I get my job back, the benefits and pay rate will change. I don't have any information yet. It's unsettling not knowing if I will have a job that will keep my salary to cut to save money.

Needless to say, I worried. I am wired and don't forsee much sleep tonight (or weekend for that matter).

Trying to keep positive thoughts during this uneasy time.

I had to do that once. Just remember no one knows your job and qualifications like you do!

thank you kiki... it's funny, I've often thought no one would want my (stressful) job. LOL.

That's got to be unnerving. I hope everything works out for you. I agree with kiki- make sure to highlight your experience in your application. Fingers crossed for you!

During a major re-organization it's typical to ask employees to apply for their position as part of the process. Often it part of the package the consulting and accounting firms offer.

This is the time for positive thinking and an opportunity to brag. I suggest you write brief recaps of your successes or important projects that you participated in - pick those you feel best about and be ready to outline two more if asked. What have you done that was particularly successful? What have you done above and beyond your job description? How have you added to the bottom line? What have you done to stay current over 15 years?

What can you include in your application that brings added value to your employer? If you have glowing evaluations, reference them.

Oh dear. How stressful. I'm sure you will be happily re-hired, however!
